The main aim of any sustainable community is to develop mutually beneficial support structures based on the available skills and resources. Great examples of these are the many Transition Town communities that are developing around the country.
A sustainable community in schools follows the same principle. It will encourage and support the students to learn how to improve their school and local environment. The community is likely to be made up of students, teachers and teaching assistants, school keepers, finance managers, canteen staff, cleaners, parents, governors, local residents, local businesses and others who have a stake in the school.
